We had a fun dinner down by the river with Patrice and T. Max sat in his big boy chair the whole time and did very well. He liked to play with his cup of milk!

Boys and their toys
Down by the lake....
We spent the weekend in Milwaukee, which is a beautiful place to be and has perfect weather in August! Max spent lots of time playing with his grandparents. We spent lots of time down by Lake Michigan and the art museum!
SO FUN!
Talking to the ducks
Telling the ducks where to go
Go THERE ducks!
Over THERENow over THERE
Feeling quite accomplished at duck directing!

My first hero hat
Helping with the Ladder
Max's grandad and dad put a ceiling fan up in his room this weekend. It only took them about 5 times longer than expected because of some funny wiring in his room. Annoying! Max and mommy came to visit for a while, and Max was very into helping them with the ladder.

Fascinating
I can see online how many views we get, what time of day (amazing how many of you check the blog first thing in the morning!), and (if you didn't just type in EmilyandIan.com) what link brought you here. A couple of times now, we've been found by folks in Russia using this link: http://moskva.tiu.ru/p1516162-zenslim.html. I am intrigued about what brings our Russian friends to us and would love to know!
Also, as I stroll down the wandering blog-related thoughts, we celebrated a milestone here at EmilyandIan.com yesterday. We originally purchased our URL for 5 years, thinking that we would probably not need it post-wedding. Well, time flies and ideas change when you are having fun! We got the notice to renew yesterday (not due until Jan 15), and went ahead and bought the name for another 9 years. So keep reading, followers (and random Russians) - we've got at least 9 more years of fun to go!
Funny boy
Max helps in the kitchen while I make dinner. He particularly likes to play with the oven mitts.
And in the morning, he sometimes feels like a caged animal when we keep him upstairs while one of us runs down to grab things.
Why do you get to play on the stairs while I have to stay over here?
And this one, which makes me say WHERE HAS MY BABY BOY GONE?!!!?

First trip to the Smithsonian
There are a hundred reasons people (me) love the American History Smithsonian. Dorothy's Ruby Slippers. Julia Child's Kitchen. Original Muppets. First Lady dresses. All of which held NO interest to Max. No, we spent an hour looking at the General Motors-sponsored (thanks GM!) transportation exhibit. Max loved seeing all the cars, trucks, planes and boats. The ones that made noise were particularly wonderful to look at! He kept squatting down for a better look. Checking out old-timey cars:
And motorcycles!
Checking out the train:
Looking at a model of a boat engine (LOTS of good noises)
