Training and Rewarding

Mom spent the weekend getting Cookout/Campout certified by the Girl Scouts, then scooped up Evelyn for a post-certification mani/pedi party. The boys wrapped up a double header for the Reds and came home for Indian food and Survivor for the fam.  Busy weekend!

 

Service Learning Day

The kids ended up working at the same table to help pack 20,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger during today's Service Learning event, before splitting up for afternoon service with their classes.  Max and the upper school worked outside, while Evelyn's class prepped ads for the upcoming 4th Grade Book Drive, gathering books for Afghan refugee children and to sell at Country Market.

The shirt says it all - "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service to others."

Evelyn and I grabbed cocoa and tea at the surprisingly swank 7-11 coffee bar before heading to Simpson to root for the Hammers!

 

Crafty Critter

Evelyn got a pom-pom animal kit in her basket, and we enjoyed building Wally the Walrus.

We all took in Mean Girls at the Kennedy Center.  And the moon on the drive home was SPECTACULAR.

EXTRA Fun Friday

Today was the first post-Covid EXTRA Fun Friday, and it was definitely fun! Bounce houses, Dads 'n Dogs, tatoos and face painters, and soooo many friends. I barely saw either kiddo the whole time, but Ms. Sonner caught Evelyn, Ellie, Caldwell and Emilie in action.

 

Monday Night Madness

While Evelyn worked at tutoring, Max inhaled a pre-game pizza.  Then Evelyn enjoyed pasta marinara while Max... won a baseball game 22-3.

 

Bless this mess.

I dropped off his Air Pods in Max's locker and was struck by his organizational commitment.

The Hammers won 22-3, and Max made a fantastic out at home in the 4th.  Good game!

Max had games for Little League and Reds, while Mom ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler.  What a weekend!
