Closing Campfire

Skits to share with the rest of camp to close out the week. Can't wait to see our second birdie come home!

Back to the nest

Mom picked Max up from TWO weeks away. We shared Eucharist and then we were free to pick the kids up, get a tour, and head home. Salad at Applebees has never tasted so good!

About last night...

...for our last night kid-free, we hit the Monocle and Rasika. Fun and yum!

Hello muddah, hello faddah...

Stufflandia

The stuffies have been VERY bold while Evelyn is out of town. Each day, we sent her an email of the naughtiness they were up to. They made dinner (Sky was afraid of getting in trouble so she hung back), read in the egg chair, went rock climbing on Piper's crate, had a MAJOR sleepover, and made signs to welcome Evelyn back from camp.  Naughty, naughty little stuffies.

Girls in canoes.

Walk it out

We took a morning walk around Capitol Hill before work, a fun change of pace with no kids to keep us home.

Explorers Doing Explorer Things

Their clothes changed, so we know these pictures must be from today. Looks like the Explorers are off to a great start.

The eagle has landed.

We left for Harrisonburg Saturday afternoon to cut the drive to camp in half. Piper was a good road trip buddy.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at a pizza place downtown.

The headed to DQ for what is now the 'traditional' pre-camp Blizzard. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, after all...

Sunday morning, we took a stroll around JMU's campus to check it out.

Then hit up a local coffee shop for cappucino, chai, and chocolate milk.

Then some last snuggles with Pipes before heading to meet Jenesis for camp.

No tears, only excitement at drop-off. The girls followed their counselor right over to start playing games and hanging out with their new friends. We'll see them at the bus Friday night.

While Max was away...

Evelyn kept up with the usual routine, like tutoring with Miss Ellie.

Meanwhile Mom flew to Louisiana and Mississippi for a quick trip through rural America.

Evelyn used her new desk and zentangle supplies to keep herself entertained.

And spent lots of time with Emilie, seeing Thor, having mocktails, and enjoying some late afternoon Netflix rom-coms together.

And as a family (minus Max, tears!), we worked out the pre-camp anxiety with a puzzle featuring some of our favorites - dogs and baseball.
