WORST. CAMP. EVER.

Max is having the worst time ever at SSSAS 6th grade prep.  He's less than thrilled with 3 hours of math and 3 of sentence diagraming a day.  Summer fun!

The Squad

Evelyn, Emilie, Sadia and Savannah headed to the pool Friday afternoon to celebrate the end of Musical Theater camp.  They had an amazing time, from swim to dinner to cheering like maniacs for Savannah during her swim test.  Max and Luke, also at the pool, spent their time in the deep end and acting as if they had never laid eyes on the maniac girls before!

 

National Ice Cream Day

We had lots of fun celebrating National Ice Cream Day at 'Clifton's Peterson's Ice Cream.  Mom was particularly enthusiastic about the Borden's sign.

Evelyn and Emilie started fashion designing during a thunder break at the pool, and continued the style show at home.

 

Take Your Daughter To Work Day

For our last lunch adventure this week, we headed downtown to meet Daddy at his office.  We thought we would not be allowed in, but the security folks took one look at Evelyn and said "come right on in!"  We got to see Dad's office, walk through Hart and Dirksen, and have lunch at the Cups cafeteria.  Evelyn was particularly taken by just how many types of juices the Senate staff have to choose from - and how many different foods the cafeteria offers.  She was walking around like she owned the place by the time we left, and has declared that after being an actress and an engineer, she plans to have her 3rd act be in the Senate.  

 

Mother's Day Out

Evelyn and I continued our week of one-on-one mid-day adventures with a visit to the La Colombe exhibit at the National Cathedral (yes, we took time to find the Darth Vader gargoyle for Max and the moon rock in a piece of stained glass while we there).  We enjoyed the exhibit, the sheer size and scale and COLOR of the Cathedral, and then a pasta lunch out in DuPont Circle to celebrate our time together this week.

Evelyn and Emmy got down and dirty in the creek on their play date.

 

Ballet Pizza

Evelyn and Jenesis had a delicious pizza dinner after ballet class.

 

Off to find a candlestick maker...

Evelyn promised Ian cookies 3 ways: peanut butter, chocolate chip, and peanut butter-chocolate chip.  She prepared the cookies 100% solo while I cleaned up from lunch and listened to a work call.  She's independent, creative, and a tasty baker!

 

Cats and Mice

While Max the cat was away celebrating Max B's birthday with baseball camp/swim/movie/sleepover, Evelyn the mouse played with an afternoon swim/penne-and-colby-jack/movie night of her own.  Hooray for summer fun!

 

Wined & Dined

We enjoyed mocktails with our pajama cookout Saturday, a girls' ride to donuts Sunday morning while the boys grabbed Best Buns and headed for baseball, and then family dinner out Sunday night.  Yummy weekend!

 

Sky Blue

We barely got after camp snacks down before the skies opened Friday, but Saturday was sunny and perfect for swimming and sun bathing.

We headed to Panera for a French croissant breakfast to hide from the cleaning ladies this morning, enjoying another chapter or 5 of The Witches by Roald Dahl during our meal.  Delicious!

 

Brutus

We got to keep Brutus for the long weekend, which was a delight.  The kids particularly enjoyed a dog sleepover Sunday night, and Evelyn enjoyed Brutus's willingness to wear a crown with her.
