Evelyn picked out trading cards from Max's Sports Illustrated to send to each of her classmates. Sweet and sporty way to stay in touch while we quarantine!

Cherry Blossom 10 Miler
Another race registered for, another race canceled. This morning I ran the Cherry Blossom 10-miler in the comfort of the basement. Woohoo!
Piper!
We are all so grateful we have Piper to entertain us in this quarantine. She and Evelyn love to cuddle indoors, she and Max play like maniacs outside, and all three enjoy cuddling under my desk when they need a break in the day. Sweet, sweet Piper!

CANDY SUSHI!
Today's lunch-and-learn was about how to make Rice Krispie treats and, ultimately, CANDY SUSHI! Max wants Disney World to start serving these - they are THAT good!
Sister Act
Somehow the kids got totally focused on the sister dance from White Christmas (actually, the men's reproduction of the Haymes sisters's act) and recreated it for us at bedtime. Hilarity ensued!

Turns out...
...that weekends without anything to do are wonderful! Before we broke for Spring Break, Max and Mr. Jackson had a video chat to talk about his progress and expectations post-break.
Then over the weekend, we enjoyed walks and exploring nature with the Seek app, which tells us the name of different plants we come across. We baked Apple Oosa (Evelyn), bread (me), and strawberry rhubarb pie (Max). The kids created the first edition of their newspaper. And while I did some work, both kids enjoyed some Piper time under my desk.

Digital Day 2
Day two of digital learning is going well. A lot more independence, and a lot of hard work happening. We may just survive this after all!

Shamrock Half
The Shamrock Half was canceled for this weekend, and I decided to go ahead and run the race this morning. 2:10:13 later, 13.1 done and feeling strong!

Quarantine, Day 2
We took Piper for a morning walk, during which we used an app to identify cool plants we passed. Then home to decorate the St. Patrick's Day cake and spend the day reading and relaxing before "school" resumes tomorrow. A definite highlight of the day was taking doodling lessons with Mo Willems through the Kennedy Center. Drawing is fun!

Corona Kick-Off
School closed indefinitely on Friday, and we decided to start our family's social isolation on Sunday. So Saturday night Mom & Dad enjoyed a night on the town, while Max had a sleepover with Jay and Evelyn and Piper had girls' night with Gwen the babysitter. And then we started our Monday morning home together. The highlight so far was the video chat for the second grade. Here's to creative technology use as we stay connected and finish the school year in isolation!

Waltz This Way
It was a delight to be at the Snow Ball. The kids demonstrated the waltz, foxtrot, and cha-cha, then danced a couple of waltzes with their parents. Max and I chatted about his wedding during our dances. He's only marrying someone who is willing to watch all 11 Star Wars movies in 11 nights. For their honeymoon, they're going on a Disney Cruise but hitting Star Wars World at Disney World before they leave.
Guys' Night
So much Battlefront. Pirates of the Caribbean. Pizza for dinner and a sleep over in my bed. Breakfast at Atlantis. More Battlefront. What a night!
Girls Weekend!
We shopped. We spa'd. We had dinner and saw Wicked. We planned awesome outfits around our first pair of wedge sandals. We binge-watched Say Yes to the Dress. We hit the Aquarium. And spent an hour at Taco Bell sipping Icee and reliving the whole experience on the way home.
