The view from above.

There is only one way to get a Capitol Dome tour - to be invited personally by a Senator or Member of the House. It is one of the most-coveted DC-insider experiences for those in the know, and Friday was our chance. We loved the opportunity to climb the 300-ish steps from the crypt through the space between the original dome and the cast iron external dome and out to the top balcony. Everything was interesting - from the crawl space to the way you can really see the perspective and challenge of painting the fresco on the ceiling. What a remarkable way to spend the last Friday of summer!
